Is Email Marketing still important?
|
Email marketing was once considered a highly important sales tool but due to spam and other deterrents, it has lost favour with many marketers. However, as it’s now suggested that 80% of Internet users in the UK regularly check and send email, is email marketing is more important than many of us would believe?
It’s certainly important for businesses to have a functioning website for marketing purposes, although this doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t invest in email marketing too. Too many businesses fail to grasp the potential of email marketing, so they don’t often use their mailing list to its full advantage.
Mailing lists are essential to any business; they are populated with the contact details of existing and potential customers, allowing you to keep them in touch with the latest offers, news and products or services from your company. Perhaps the best thing about mailing lists is that they allow you to send information directly to interested parties. Quite frankly, if you have a mailing list and don’t use it, you are denying yourself a vast quantity of potential sales.
Email marketing has a number of advantages, which make it too important to ignore. After all, sending a targeted email is a much more cost-effective and green mode of advertising than leaflets or placing an ad in the local press. It’s also a quick way of generating traffic, as your message is delivered to potential customers as soon as you press the send button. However, perhaps the biggest advantage of email marketing is that it works. Results recently released by Doubleclick revealed that 82% of web users had made a purchase in the last twelve months as a result of an advert they had been sent via email.
Ultimately, the power of email marketing is still huge. If you have a mailing list that you’re not currently making the most of, isn’t it time you had another look at it?
