Opticians Anticipate UK Launch of Capello Glasses

With the ink still wet on his England manager contract, Britain is currently in the throes of Fabio Capello mania. However, it seems that Capello is not the only Italian soon to be gracing our shores.

Capello is the public face for Zerorh+ and the prestige eye wear brand plan to follow their famous model over to the UK. While the brand had been planning to launch in the UK for some time, Capello’s appointment as England manager has accelerated their decision to do so. "This is manna from heaven," explains Sarah Johnson, the firm’s UK agent, "It is a golden opportunity."

Capello is rarely seen without his Zerorh+ glasses or sunglasses, which will be launched over here in the New Year. He has been modelling the distinctive spectacles since 2001 and wears the frames in his private life, as well as in a range of adverts. The Zerorh+ website outlines why he is the ideal ambassador for their brand: “He is a man who knows how to interpret the brand’s prestige and quality,” it claims.

Although the firm has taken just one order so far, they expect demand to be high and have had plenty of wholesale enquiries. "The last two weeks have been mad," confesses Ms Johnson, "We are having to have a new phone line put in."

In addition to their celebrity endorsement, Zerorh+ glasses also have another unique selling point. Unlike most brands of spectacles and sunglasses, these frames are not mass-produced. Instead, you’ll find each pair has been designed, manufactured and finished with care in Italy. As a result, you can expect these frames to be sold alongside the more upmarket brands.

The range will be launched on 1 January 2008, with an average selling price of £125.
